Appearance

Sodium sulfite 97% is a white powder or hexagonal prismatic crystal. Density 2.633g/cm3. When heated to red heat, it decomposes. Very stable and not easily oxidized. Easy to dissolve in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, insoluble in liquid chlorine and ammonia. Strong reducing agent. It is easy to oxidize into sodium sulfate under humid air and sunlight. React with sulfur dioxide to produce sodium bisulfite. The sulfur dioxide or sulfur combustion in sulfuric acid tail gas produced by the absorption contact method of soda ash solution generates sulfur dioxide gas, obtaining a concentrated solution of sodium sulfite, which is crystallized from the concentrated solution at 95-100 ℃.

Sodium sulfite 97% is used for bleacher of tanning industry and plant fiber, antichlor and bleacher in printing and dyeing industry developer in sensitization industry, lentine in organic industry, reducer in producing aminosalicylic acid, synthetic fiber and stabilizing agent in textile industry. It can prevent the partial oxidation of cotton cloth fiber and influence the fiber strength, and can be used in sorts of cotton fabric scouring, paper-making, electronic, water-treatment, etc.
